Bali, Indonesia — The Indian Navy has deployed the amphibious warfare ship INS Shardul and a P-8I long-range maritime surveillance aircraft to Bali, Indonesia, for the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2025, scheduled from Feb. 15 to Feb. 22. The event, a prestigious multinational naval gathering, will be reviewed by the President of Indonesia and will feature participation from naval forces worldwide.

During the IFR, the Indian Navy will engage in high-level discussions, including the International Maritime Security Symposium and tactical floor games. Indian personnel will also participate in multinational activities such as a city parade, baby turtle release, coral and mangrove plantation, and beach cleaning, reflecting India’s commitment to environmental conservation and maritime cooperation.

Following the fleet review, INS Shardul and the P-8I will participate in Exercise Komodo, a multilateral naval drill designed to enhance maritime interoperability and strengthen regional security cooperation.

The Indian Navy’s participation in IFR 2025 follows recent naval engagements in Indonesia, including the involvement of INS Mumbai and a P-8I aircraft in the LA PEROUSE exercises in January. It also comes after Adm. Muhammad Ali, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, visited India as part of a high-level delegation accompanying Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who was the chief guest at India’s Republic Day Parade 2025.
The Indian Navy’s consistent participation in such exercises underscores India’s commitment to fostering regional maritime security and advancing its “Security and Growth for All in the Region” (SAGAR) vision.
