NEW DELHI — An Indian Army contingent has officially departed to participate in the premier multilateral joint military exercise, Exercise KHAAN QUEST. The high-intensity drills are scheduled to take place from June 20 to July 3, 2026, at the Five Hills Training Area in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The exercise brings together military forces from across the globe to foster collaboration and enhance interoperability in peace support operations, strictly adhering to Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
The Indian Contingent: Jat Regiment Takes the Lead
India is sending a highly trained 40-personnel contingent to represent the nation on the global stage.
- Core Representation: Troops from a premier Battalion of the JAT REGIMENT.
- Support Elements: Specialized personnel drawn from various other Arms and Services of the Indian Army.
India’s active participation underscores New Delhi’s steadfast commitment to global peacekeeping efforts and highlights its deepening strategic partnership with Mongolia.
Evolution of Exercise KHAAN QUEST
What began as a regional initiative has evolved into a cornerstone of international military cooperation. The 2026 event marks a major milestone in the exercise’s history:
