Modi Champions AI and Energy Innovation at G7 Summit

Apulia, Italy – Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Outreach Session on Artificial Intelligence, Energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean at the G7 Summit today. Marking the 50th anniversary of the Group, he extended his congratulations on this significant milestone.

Prime Minister Modi expressed immense satisfaction in attending the G7 Summit following his re-election in what he described as the largest democratic exercise in the history of humankind. He emphasized the need for a human-centric approach to technology, highlighting India’s success in leveraging digital advancements for efficient public service delivery.

Focusing on India’s AI Mission, which is grounded in the principle of “AI for All,” Prime Minister Modi stressed that artificial intelligence should be harnessed to promote the well-being and progress of everyone. He underscored India’s commitment to international collaboration in AI development, citing its role as a founding member of the Global Partnership for AI.

Prime Minister Modi, in his address, detailed India’s pathway towards energy transition. He elaborated on the country’s strategy, which balances availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. This comprehensive strategy provides a clear roadmap for India’s energy transition and demonstrates India’s commitment to sustainable development. He reaffirmed India’s ambitious goal to achieve NET ZERO emissions by 2070. Modi also highlighted the “Mission LiFE” (Lifestyle for Environment), urging the global community to join the tree plantation initiative, “Plant4Mother” (Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam), to foster environmental responsibility on a personal and global scale.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s commitment to prioritizing the concerns of the Global South, particularly Africa. He proudly noted India’s role in the admission of the African Union as a permanent member of the G20 during its presidency, emphasizing India’s dedication to elevating the voices and concerns of developing nations on the global stage.
