Zelenskyy: India Can be More Active in Efforts to End Aggression

Date:

President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, spoke to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and wished him a successful G20 presidency. “Next year, it will be India that will preside over the G20. I wished Mr. Modi a fruitful presidency, and fruitful not for someone in particular, but for everyone in the world who values peace,” said Zelenskyy in a press release.

Zelenskyy said India can be more active in efforts to end aggression, and he hopes more can be done together “for global stability in the coming year.”

Zelenskyy noted that he announced his ten-point peace formula at the G20 summit and is counting on “India’s participation in its implementation.”

In a statement, the Indian government said PM Modi discussed the “main priorities of India’s G20 Presidency, including giving a voice to the concerns of developing nations on issues like food and energy security.” The leaders also exchanged views about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. PM Modi “strongly reiterated his call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, and said that both sides should revert to dialogue and diplomacy to find a lasting solution to their differences.” Modi also expressed “India’s support for any peace efforts, and assured India’s commitment to continue providing humanitarian assistance for the affected civilian population.”
